“Do not be afraid! Listen, I bring you news of great joy. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. And here is a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2, 10-12)
This message, delivered to the shepherds that first Christmas by the angels, is as relevant to us today as it was back then. Christmas, the celebration of God’s birth into our world, is still great and joyful news! For God is with us; we are never far from his love, and our lives and loved ones are never out of his grasp. So, as you gather with your families and friends this year, may the presence of God’s love in and among you, like the child Jesus lying in that manger, open up the year ahead to bigger and brighter horizons.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our Christmas Masses. May the Lord’s peace and blessings be with you all throughout the New Year.
