From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 29th August

Hi everyone!

Parishioner Contact Details.
Thanks to all those who have sent in their up-to-date contact details. More than a hundred of you have responded so far, which is really good, as we have been able to update our contact details for many changed telephone numbers and addresses, and we are very happy to welcome those people who have moved into the area recently. So this has been a very useful thing, to help us help you. If you haven’t done so already, you can find the online form on our website at www.rgcp.org.au and a ‘hard copy’ on the opposite page of this bulletin. You can fill it out, cut it out and post it/drop it in to us if you don’t have internet access.

Welcome Home Fr. Daniele and Fr. Alfredo
For those of you watching our live-streamed Masses during the past week, you will have noticed (behind their masks, of course!) that our own Fr. Daniele and Fr. Alfredo have returned from their “COVID exile” on the south coast. If you recall, they both left for their month of retreat back in late June, along with Fr. Dan who returned two weeks ago. With the lockdown being extended throughout the whole of NSW over the last few weeks, it made little difference their being away or bein here, and our personalised work has increased extensively. So we are once again five priests on site! Welcome back, Frs. Alfredo and Daniele!

Live Streamed Sunday Masses Now in Spanish and Italian
Now that Fr. Alfredo and Fr. Daniele are back in town, we will once again be offering Sunday Masses in Spanish and Italian for as long as the current 'lockdown' endures and 'Places of Worship' are closed. The Spanish language Masses will be celebrated by Fr. Alfredo every Sunday at 12 pm (Midday) and the Italian language Masses by Fr. Daniele every Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. You can catch these Masses as usual on our live streaming service at www.rgcp.org.au. Thank you, Frs. Alfredo and Daniele!

Get Well Soon, Joe Drzyzga!
Our heartfelt commiserations go out to our Sunday 10 am keyboard player, Joe Drzyzga, who lost his balance and broke two of his fingers last Sunday.
We recognise it is a bit hard playing keyboard at Mass with your lower arm in plaster, and only two fingers available (“Chopsticks” being naturally excluded from our normal Sunday repertoire!). We look forward to getting Joe back as a regular Sunday musical feature. In the meantime, ‘Get well soon, Joe!’

Prayer Corners.
Thanks as well to those of you who have sent in photos of your “prayer spaces" during lockdown. We have highlighted this one for now. There must be many more though, so get your photos into us this week. We also received a number of interesting commentaries about our own “little chapel" at the
Presbytery... many were unaware that we would even have such a space in our homes, if we have a Church next door. Ah! but this is our private prayer space, and one that all five of us priests treasure.

Chapels in Verbum Dei Residences
Actually, a chapel is a normal feature in all our Verbum Dei houses, such that we consider a chapel as the most essential room in the whole house wherever we live throughout the world. We might post a number of them up on our website, to show you what I mean. You will see that there are a number of common features to them all, even if the local culture is different; such as the tabernacle in the centre with a little lamp, the crucifix and an image of our Lady, and some sort of backdrop emblazoned with a bible passage. This is where we go to get our inspiration and 'pastoral enthusiasm!

Parishioner ‘Pew Portraits’
We also had another minor avalanche of photos from our live-streamed
cohort, to add to those already on the pews, which was very nice. The pews are fast filling up, and you form part of our thoughts and prayers whenever we celebrate Mass at SCB (which is daily, bar Mondays).
We didn’t post any of the photos from the last lockdown, so please be advised that if you haven’t sent in your photo recently, your faces aren’t getting a 'look in' on one of ours pews this time round. Your photos remind us of your families when we pray there, so get your portraits into us before the lockdown ends!

And that’s about it for now! God bless, and please, be on the look out for someone who is doing it tough, and find a way of letting them know that they matter! You can and will make a world of difference... to them and to your good selves!

Your brother, in Christ’s service, as always,

Fr. Greg
