From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 11th September 2022

Hi everyone!
Parish Lawns and Gardens
The Good Lord is blessing our lawns and gardens abundantly this year, so for that we are very grateful. Huge thanks to those who showed up last Saturday, even after the late cancelling due to Inclement weather(!!). We were able to distribute those two large sacks of dirt (in the parking lot) around the edges to the Church paths just before the rain set in. Thank you!! The gardens out the front are looking great as well.

In future weeks, we are going to need a hand at putting down some fertilizer in the gardens, which we will do at our next Green Fingers day on Saturday 1st October, 8am to 10.30am, so please SAVE THE DATE!. We have heaps of weeds to pull out, and we will need some more volunteers over the spring and summer months ahead. Please give us a hand to keep the SCB grounds looking great!

Senior & Bereavement Ministry Information Evening 28th September from 6 - 7.30pm in the SCB Parish Hall
As mentioned previously, CatholicCare Sydney representatives will be joining us to discuss how they can support our parish to create a Senior’s Ministry. CatholicCare has developed a range of talks, courses, classes and training to support seniors as they age, including the areas of health and wellbeing, computer and internet use workshops, talks, companion training to assist the elderly, 'Ageing Well' masterclasses, 'Living Well Dying Well' workshops and bereavement support. This information night is for everyone wanting to help in this vital area of life, and not just the seniors. So, see you there and then!

Church Wardens Needed To Keep SCB Church Open!
In order to keep SCB Church open every day - Tues to Sun, 7 am to 5 pm - we need to have someone to be present. The fact that the SCB Church is open has been a source of great comfort for many people in need of prayer, but we can't keep the doors open unless someone is physically there. Consider it an opportunity for you to have your own little time of prayer! We especially need wardens on Tuesdays from 10 am to 12 pm, and Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm. Contact the Parish Office on office@rgcp.org.au to be a part of this noble venture.

St Charles Borromeo Feast Day/International Lunch 6th Nov 2022 from 11:30am
For the first time in three years our St. Charles Borromeo Feast day will be celebrated on Saturday November 6, due to COVID. A Big 'Thank you' to all those who have already expressed interest in offering food for this Parish Feast day from diverse cultural traditions, including Italians, Indonesians, Philippinos, South Americans, and Croatians (and the traditional Aussie BBQ!).

So, save the date, invite your family members, friends and neighbours (as we want to make this a big event on the Parish's calendar) and think about how you could help out. I will be putting in the names of contact people for the cooking of the food in future weeks, but we will also need people manning the school gates, serving, doing the clean-up, and supervising operations on the day. There is a form at the back of both Churches to help us organise the volunteers for the day.

Annual "Festa del Santissimo Crocifisso" - Holy Cross College Ryde this Sunday 11 Sep at 1pm
is on again this year. Starts at 1 pm with Mass, followed by a short procession and then free BBQ and drinks. All welcome!

Parish Office closed this Tuesday 13th September until 1pm
Next Tuesday, the Parish Office will be closed all morning until 1 pm. If you have any urgent needs, you can ring the emergency number on 0413 226 508. Thanks for your understanding!

And that's about it for now. God bless, and take good care of yourselves... and even more so of your neighbours! Why not start thinking of someone you can invite back to Church? It will do them a lot of good ... and you, as well, for inviting them.

Your brother, in Christ’s missionary service,

Fr. Greg
