FROM FR GREG'S DESK: SUNDAY 1ST JUNE, 2025
Survey Sunday' is this Sunday!!
This weekend at all the Masses we will be asking you to take part in our National Church Life Survey to help us "take the pulse" on our pastoral life at the Parish. In place of the usual homily, you will be given instructions as to how to complete a short survey, with 15 minutes or so to complete it (it isn't difficult!). If you are able to do it on your phones, that would be very helpful, as it would leave the limited printed copies for the elderly and those who have no access to a smart phone. I thank you in advance for being a part of the survey, and I look forward to sharing with you all in future bulletins the information given.
'Omelette Sunday' is Next Sunday!!!
What on earth is 'Omelette Sunday'? Well, I don't know if you remember, but one of our Parishioners, Song Fa-a-loon, is an amazing chef. Anyway, he (and his family) offered his services a few years ago to make omelettes on a Sunday morning, as a bit of a 'fund raiser'. You choose the ingredients, and Song makes the Omelette. Simple as that.
Next Sunday 8th June, Song will once again be demonstrating his 'prowess in the kitchen' (helped out, of course, by his family) by whipping up an omelette, right before your very eyes (I was mesmerized by the speed with which he works!!)! The price is 'by donation' - Song is doing it all for free, so everything raised will go towards subsidising the 'mission trip' to the Philippines which Fr. Steve will be leading in October ... but what a wonderful way of doing it, right? 'Omelette creation' begins after the 8 am Mass, and continues on after the 10 am Mass. And we will also have our amazing coffees care of Little Noah's Café as per usual. See you then!
Pentecost Vigil Sat 7th June
Next Sunday is also Pentecost Sunday, so we will be having a Vigil Prayer Service at SCB Church after the 6 pm Saturday Night Vigil Mass, from 7,30pm until 10 pm. Coffee and tea will be available after Mass for everyone who might wish to participate in the Vigil Prayer Service.
Confirmations with Bishop Jarrett Sat 14 - Sun 15 June (12 & 3 pm)
Our young people in Year 6 will be making their Confirmation in two weeks' time, and we are pleased to welcome Bishop Geoffrey Jarrett, retired Bishop of Lismore Diocese, to confer it. Please make him very welcome if you see him.
'Walk With Christ' - Martin Place to the Cathedral Sun 22 June
The Annual Archdiocesan 'Walk With Christ' will once again be held on Sunday 22 June, starting at 2.30 pm (with music and talks from 1.30 pm onwards). We have ordered not just one, but two buses for the event, and the seats are completely free of charge, all we ask is that those who reserve a ticket on the buses fill the seats on the day, (otherwise someone else could have participated instead). More info on the opposite page.
And that's all I have for the moment. God bless!
Fr. Greg
