Hi everyone!
Last Two Days to see the Exhibition on Eucharistic Miracles at SCB This Weekend - Don't Miss This!!
Over the past week, at the weekday Masses, we have listened to excerpts from Chapter 6 of the Gospel of St. John detailing Jesus' discourse on the Bread of Life. Particularly noteworthy, I think, was a line out of the Gospel of Friday's Mass, in which Jesus said to those who were listening:
"For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink", (John 6, 56)
It is a curious coincidence that, this very week, we have also had the blessing of a visit to our Parish of a display of 52 panels in total, an exhibition on Eucharistic miracles which have occurred throughout the world over the past 2000 years and been documented, as compiled by Saint Carlo Acutis, a very recent and very young 'digital saint' from Italy.
I would like to encourage each and every one of you to visit this free exhibition over the weekend, or at least visit this website (www.miracolieucaristici.org) if you cannot be there physically, to read about some of the extraordinary true events in which Jesus unexpectedly and miraculously manifested his very Real Presence in the Eucharist over the centuries.
The miracles themselves are many and varied. In some, they happened because certain Priests celebrating the Eucharist doubted the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and were shocked to find that the Consecrated Hosts had turned into real flesh and real blood.
Others relate to thieves stealing the ciboriums containing the consecrated hosts, and discarding their contents, only to find them making their whereabouts known to the people nearby through lights shining out of them, snow melting on the rocks under which they were hidden, and even in one case, of the finger of the Child Jesus on a statue pointing to her neighbours house, where the thief had hidden them!
Still others had donkeys and other animals kneeling in silent adoration before the Eucharist, err, except for the case of that sheep given to St. Francis of Assisi, which bleated in unison with the monks singing the praises of the Eucharist.
The one I found particularly fascinating was the case of Teresa Neumann, who after a miraculous cure from paralysis and total blindness at the age of 25, received the stigmata and began fasting with the Holy Eucharist as her only food, a fast that went on for 36 years.
The Nazis in World War II actually confiscated her food rationing card, and gave her double rations of soap instead, because every Friday she would be drenched in blood while in ecstasy, experiencing the Passion of Christ over and over again. It is said that Adolf Hitler himself was very fearful of the woman!!
And then there are multiple stories of desperate ladies who surreptitiously took the Eucharist home after Mass instead of consuming it, with the intention of blending the particles of the ground down consecrated host into love potions to try to win back their wayward husbands. I will leave it up to you to hear how those little episodes worked out!!
The most fascinating of all are the testimonies of several doctors and heart specialists, including an Australian doctor in Croatia, confirming the reality that the consecrated hosts had not only turned into real human flesh, but that the flesh belonged to that of a living human heart...
Hey, you've really got to check them out for yourselves. The exhibition will be open this weekend after the 8 am masses and stay open even after the 6 pm masses, for those attending Mass at SCB. Why not take your family and friends along to view them for yourselves?
I think you will be fascinated and astonished upon reading about them. It might even convert some of you to greater faith in the Eucharist, if by chance you are doubting the Real Presence of Jesus in the Consecrated Hosts. And it is also a wonderful way of preparing for the International Eucharistic Conference (with the 'real' presence of Pope Leo) in 2028.
God bless you all, and have a lovely week ahead.
