Youth Update: What have we been up to?
The youth at Ryde Gladesville have been busy lately! Here's what we've been up to over the past few weeks, and what's still to come.
Youth Leaders Commissioning Mass
Last Sunday, 8 young adults had a day of retreat and training for their six months of assisting and planning with the High School youth group, Sparc. This was followed by a Youth Leader Commissioning Mass, where they received a blessing for the upcoming work that they will be doing. We ask that you keep these amazing people in your prayers: Sophia Krivacic, Irish Gonzales, Tafara Jakopo, Keenan Carbonell, Bianca Kallukaran and Shehana Vithana.
Mission trip to Vietnam
In the holidays, two of our high school youth, Angelique and Alyssa from Marist College Woolwich took part in a Mission trip to Vietnam. Here is a snippet of Alyssa’s experience:
“I was so blessed to be able to participate in the 2020 immersion to Vietnam with my school Mercy Catholic College, for two weeks in January. This trip exceeded my expectations in no way that I could have imagined, prior to coming.”
“The part I enjoyed most from the trip would be in Hue where we helped to build the foundation of a school and visit an orphanage… It was eye-opening to see how much the Holy Spirit lived within these people and communities that had the bare minimum, especially the children who managed to never stop smiling. Being able to play with children with hearing complications proved to me that love for each other can overcome any language barriers.”
