A message from Fr Daniele and Fr Alfredo
Hello everyone! It’s Fr Daniele and Fr Alfredo here! As you might know, Fr Greg and Br Steve have been away on retreat, meaning it’s just been us here at home with our Ryde-Gladesville family. We thought we’d share our experiences during this time, and some news from our community.
From Fr Daniele’s Door
Over these last two weeks I've been more active in the parish life, as Macquarie University, where I have my main responsibility in Sydney Archdiocese as a chaplain, is having a break right now. It has coincided with Fr Greg's spiritual exercises, and that's why Fr Alfredo has needed my help too. So, I've celebrated more masses than usual, especially on the weekends, I've been more present in the church in general and also in the parish office. I think I've managed to understand the parish life a little bit more: both the beauty of serving the Lord in his people and the challenge of being available for any unexpected and complicated situations. I can say that I really enjoyed this time, remembering Psalm 84:
"My God, happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise... For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere."
Just in the midst of the hard and changing times we are living in, we are all called, as Church, to witness this joy, which comes from the certainty that, no matter what, the Lord is ALWAYS with us, and from our service, especially to those in most need. I pray that our parish may become more and more your home where all of you can find this joy.
New President of Gladesville Vinnies
Congratulations to Anna Alessi, who was recently voted in as the new President of Vinnie at Gladesville. We wish her well as she embarks on this new leadership journey and assists the vulnerable in our community. We also thank previous President, Paul Camilleri, for his years of service and dedication to the role.
Br Steve Drum’s Ordination to the Diaconate Very soon, our very own Br Steve Drum will be a Deacon! Br Steve's Ordination to the Diaconate celebrated by The Most Reverend Terence Brady on Sunday 19th July at 11:30am at St Charles Borromeo. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 100 people are permitted in SCB. We are unfortunately unable to offer a place to everyone, as preference has been given to family members and invited friends.
We are giving those who would like to attend the Mass the opportunity to book a seat in the Parish Hall, which holds 47 people. The screen will be set up and the Mass will be livestreamed to the Hall. Communion will be brought over to those who are attending. To book a seat in the Hall, visit: https://www.trybooking.com/BKLYR. You are also most welcome watch the livestream on YouTube at home: https://youtu.be/Q1uvgBDbN6g.
Br Steve will also be preaching at 6pm Mass on Sunday 19th July, and you are more than to book in for this very special Mass.
That’s all from us! May you and your families stay safe, well and abundant in joy,
Fr Daniele & Fr Alfredo
