From Fr Greg's Desk: 15th November

Hi everyone!

Remembrance Mass

Last Tuesday night we held our November Remembrance Mass, to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who are no longer with us. With almost a full house in St Charles Borromeo Church plus those who joined us on the livestream, it was a beautiful ceremony to remember and pray for those we have lost, both this year and in years gone by, and let ourselves be filled with the love, comfort and goodness of Christ. Thank you to all those who joined us, as well as all those who assisted with the preparations and running of the Mass– such a beautiful ceremony would not have been possible with you.

Happy Birthday Deacon Steve!
Congratulations to Deacon Steve Drum, who celebrated his 40th birthday this week! I had the pleasure of joining our youth for bowling on Wednesday night to celebrate his birthday, and a fair warning- our humble Deacon Steve is a formidable bowler!

With an extra year of wisdom under his belt, we look forward to seeing all he continues to achieve in supporting and guiding our Parish, our youth and our volunteers. If you see Deacon Steve around Masses this weekend, make sure you wish him a Happy Birthday.

Christmas Masses
Please keep an eye out in coming weeks for more information about our Christmas Masses, and the procedures that will be put in place with COVID-19 during this exceptionally busy period in our churches. We are endeavoring to provide ample opportunities for our parish and local community to attend our services during Christmas in a safe and organised manner, so we look forward to working with you to celebrate a special time during an incredibly tumultuous year!

If you’d like to volunteer to assist us during the Christmas period, please contact the Parish Office with your details and availability and we will be in touch shortly.

Cleaning Product Donations
If you’re able to donate any cleaning donations for our churches, particularly spray disinfectant, please drop it off to the Parish Office. Thank you so much to all those who have helped us out with this in recent months– it has been a great help!

Please arrive early to Mass!

And finally, just a friendly reminder to please arrive early to Mass each week, even if you have already booked! We often have quite a number of people lined up outside the church waiting for our booked attendees to arrive. Please note, that once Mass begins, anyone who has not yet arrived will now have their place given to someone else waiting in line, to avoid parishioners or new guests missing the readings and other important parts of the Mass.

I know this new way of Parish life has been a lot to adjust to, and I thank you all sincerely for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this time. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the time when these procedures are a thing of the past, but in the meantime, let’s continue to stay vigilant, keep each other safe, and help each other out.

Your brother in Christ’s service,
Fr Greg
