From Fr Greg's Desk: 14th March

Hi everyone!

Well, we are halfway through Lent, and Holy Week is fast approaching.

Volunteers for Holy Week. Thanks for all those who have already volunteered to help out at our Holy Week liturgies. Yes, we still need more volunteers, so give our Parish Office a call to find out how, when and where you can help us out. Your help is going to be very needed, and much appreciated!!

Future Easing of COVID 19 Restrictions. We are hoping that next week we will have news of further easing of COVID 19 restrictions, but for now we are working on the premise that they will stay the same as they are for Easter. Stay tuned for further instructions in the near future.

QR Codes Make Things Easier. Some of you may not have noticed the funny little 'boxes' filled with dots and squiggles on the wall of the Church as you go in. These are called QR Codes, and we would ask that you become familiar with using them, as they save us all a lot of time and effort! Please remember that under the current 'COVID Safe' rules and regulations, we are still obliged to make sure all people who use our Churches, Halls and Offices are registered in the unlikely event of a positive COVID 19 case appearing in one of our visitors. Believe me, the last thing we want to do is to create more hassle and inconvenience to either you good selves or to our warden and office staff.

Please use the QR Code whenever possible. We are currently obliged to enter contact details into an electronic format within 12 hours of your having signed in, which as you can imagine is a big feat in the case of weekend masses! So please use the QR code or get someone to sign you in as a dependant so as to speed things up at the door and use less resources at our parish. If you have no phone or a companion with one, then use the laptops we have at the Church or get the warden to help you to do this.

Project Compassion. There are still heaps of Project Compassion boxes and envelopes at the entrances of our two Churches at SCB and OLQP to take home. The theme this year, by the way, is to 'Be More'... And, yes, you can also donate or find out more about this online. Just type in something like "Project Compassion 2021 - Be More This Lent" into your search engine and you will find heaps of information there.

New Administration Assistant. We now have a new administration assistant who will be joining the RGCP Office team next week. More about who the person is in next week's bulletin. Thank you so much to all who offered themselves for the position. We did receive a lot of applicants and the choice was difficult, but I guess, as always, one person 'stood out from all the rest'. We will be farewelling Natasha after Easter, as she will be taking up her previous periodic employment with the Paralympics Team. What an exciting experience that will be!

Prayers are requested for Kevin Tyrrell, who is very sick in hospital with several tumours. Kevin has lovingly maintained many of the graves in our graveyard over the years and has been a fixture at the 8 am Mass at SCB up until COVID 19 hit last year. So please keep him in your prayers.

And that's all for now

Your brother, in Christ's service,

Fr. Greg
