From Fr Greg's Desk: 25th April
Priestly Ordination of Deacons Steve and Dan Drum, fmvd.
Well, it is just over a month to go before our brothers Dan and Steve are ordained to the priesthood. (St. Mary's Cathedral, 10.30 am on the 29th of May, 2021) Pretty exciting huh?
We ask for your continued prayers for them, as they prepare for this big day. Preparations are well underway for the event, and for the "First Masses" they will celebrate the day after, on Sunday 30th May at the 10 am Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Ryde. We hope to have them at the other Parish masses in the following weeks.
I'd like to remind you once again that you are all very cordially invited to this big event! We can presently fit 1200 people into St. Mary’s Cathedral itself (according to current COVID restrictions), so get your booking in ASAP on our website at www.rgcp.org.au.
Parish Ordination Luncheon - You are also all cordially invited to a 'Big Bash Parish Ordination Luncheon' with our two new priests, Dan and Steve, the next day at 12.30 pm Sunday 30th May, 2021 at Holy Cross College, Ryde. As we need to organise catering (and it is a big difference if we have 700 people than if we have 400) please do us all the favour of giving us your RSVP via our website www.rgcp.org.au, where you'll find the 'registration button' for these events.
We can’t do it at SCB due to other activities later on that day, but we thank Mr. Phil Stewart, Principal of Holy Cross College Ryde, for generously offering their facilities and BBQ/food van to accommodate us all, which is a big ask, as there will be many mouths to feed that day!
We still need lots of volunteers both at the Cathedral on Saturday 29th May please go to the website www.rgcp.org.au to sign up.
Volunteer information for the Big Bash Luncheon at Holy Cross College on Sunday 30th May will be available next week.
We trust you will understand that, because of present COVID restrictions and the large size of their families, it isn’t possible to invite you all for the small luncheon to be held at the Cathedral Hall immediately after the ordination. The Deacons would have liked to have you all there, but they do hope you will come and celebrate this huge milestone with them all the same on Sunday 30th May.
That's all for now!!
