Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 9th May

Hi everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all you Mums, grandma's, and great grandmothers! It is so good to be able to celebrate this very special vocation in our Church , and to pray for all of you particularly this weekend. Know that your Priests and Deacons appreciate and support you all in this important work of not only raising a family but also imbuing them with a sense of their Christian calling! Despite the COVID limitations, I hope you have a very happy day on Sunday!

Other News This Month

The Ordination of Deacons Dan and Steve Drum into the Priesthood will be taking place on Saturday 29th May at 10:30am at St Mary's Cathedral, 2 St Mary's Road, Sydney. Everyone is invited to attend the Cathedral. If you wish to attend, please go to the 'Priestly Ordination Cathedral Attendance' button on the Parish website to book. The Cathedral is large, and at the present COVID limitations about 1200 can attend, so we are not likely to exceed that number!

Parking & Transport

Domain - $12.00 per day, Cathedral Parking - $15.00 per day

Due to the high cost of hiring a bus, we suggest you Carpool with friends or use Public Transport, and you are most welcome to use the Parish Carpark if catching a bus into the Cathedral, other than that, the last stop on the 500x bus service is very close to the Cathedral.

Volunteering

We still need more volunteers to help at the Cathedral as Marshalls and Ushers. If you could volunteer that day, please go to the 'Cathedral Volunteers' button to register on our webpage.

First Masses

Sunday 30th May at both the 10am Family Mass (Fr Dan Drum presiding) & 6pm Youth Mass (Fr Steve Drum presiding). Due to the large numbers of people expected for the 1st Masses of our newly ordained Priests, we are taking Expressions of Interest for a place inside SCB Church. If you wish to attend one of these Mass please leave your expression of interest on trybooking at: https://www.trybooking.com/BREGA . Names will be allocated once expressions of interest have closed. You will be notified if you are to be seated inside or outside the church in the week before the Ordination. We are sorry that due to COVID 19 limitations, only 200 people are still allowed inside the Church at SCB Ryde.

Both Masses will, however, be live-streamed and outside chairs, TV's & shade tents will be available for the overflow. 'Expressions of Interest' will open on our Trybooking webpage on Monday 11th May at 7am & will close on Tuesday 25th May at midday. If not, just turn up on the day and look for a place outside.

Parish Luncheon

To celebrate the Priestly Ordinations of Deacon Steve & Deacon Dan, a 'Big Bash Ordination Lunch' will be held on the grounds of Holy Cross College on Sunday 30th May at 12:30pm. All are welcome. For catering purposes we require everyone who wishes to attend to book. Please go to the 'Big Bash Ordination Lunch' button on the Parish website to book.

Luncheon Donations

Donations of a Dessert precut or individual pieces ie tarts, slices, cupcakes etc or precut fruit would be greatly appreciated for the Big Bash Ordination Lunch. We are also looking for donations of cans of soft drink and small bottles of water, these can be bought to the Parish Office during work hours or bought to HCC on the day.
