From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 30th January

Hi everyone!

We have a lot to thank the Good Lord for this year!

We've got off to a great start this year, with most of the 'external' work on our churches finished and I think you'll agree they are looking good - photos have been plastered in below...

And with our first Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) for the year happening next week, we plan to work on the 'internal' work of our Parish – on our pastoral initiatives and ministry building. You will be seeing a bit of a blurb about the members of the PPC in future bulletins.

I am very glad to see about 10 of our parishioners registering their 'expressions of interest' in becoming Acolytes, which augurs well for the future of this particular ministry. We have also had two more people sign up to be Catechists, which is also wonderful, although my hope is that we can get at least another half a dozen more. Please see our advert in this week's bulletin. But there are plenty more ministry roles to build up this year!

Welcome Back to our Staff and Students at SCB, OLQP and HCC
Firstly, welcome back to all our staff and students of both SCB and OLQP Primary schools! Hopefully, with most of the COVID dramas behind us, we will have a relatively uninterrupted year of schooling for all our students. Also great to have our Holy Cross College cohort back across the road as well. As I mentioned in last weeks' column, they had an extraordinarily good academic year, making it to 121st in the state! Phil Stewart now has his eyes on getting into the Top 100 this year. Go for it, Phil!

Early Morning Tues/Thurs 6.30 am Masses at OLQP Restarting from Feb 1

I will once again be celebrating early morning Masses every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30 am at OLQP Church, particularly for those who work. I think you will find it a great way to begin the day! It will be over before the clock chimes 7, so you have time to get breakfast afterwards, before heading off for the school run or to work. I look forward to seeing you early risers there!

And that's about it for now! Your brother, in Christ's service,

Fr. Greg
