From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 15th May

Hi everyone!

We have quite a few things going on in the Parish that you can be part of. Here's a few things I thought I'd bring to your attention this week.

Election Day Voting Available at SCB Primary School Sat 21st May 8 am to 6 pm
Once again our SCB Primary School will be an Election Polling spot for this year's federal election. The school's Parents & Friends committee will be holding a sausage sizzle in the school grounds and Noah's Ark Cafe will be open for business that day. Please support them by your patronage and help.

Parish Welcome & Hospitality Information Session - Sat 21 May (10 am - 12 pm)
One of the ministries we have identified for growth this year is that of 'Welcoming and Hospitality" at the Parish. As far as this ministry is concerned, really, the "sky's the limit'. Whilst we have made some advances, much still needs to be done to make our Parish a place where both 'strangers' and 'regulars' feel welcomed. Come and join us for this session - believe me, you will be most welcome!! Please RSVP the Parish Office by Friday 20th on 9807 2966 or email us at offfice@rgcp.org.au
Adult Faith Formation - Wednesday 18th May at 7:30pm SCB Hall - topic 'The Mass' Fr. Dan will be presenting his second topic this Wednesday on "the Mass", followed by the third topic next Wed 25th on "Heaven, He'll, Purgatory and the Saints". Very informative sessions, these ones, and coffee and tea are available from 7.15 pm onwards. So, come along - and bring your questions with you...

Charitable Works Fund Envelopes are 'on the pews' again this week (for those who missed them last week) to help the charitable works of the Archdiocese. Please take an envelope home with you and bring it back next week. As you know, we have a quota to reach which, if not given by our Parishioners, (making the most of the 100% tax deductibility), will have to be met by second collection donations, so it is also in the Parish's interests that you help out with this Archdiocesan initiative. I thank you for your generosity!

Our Holy Land Good Friday Appeal Raised a Whopping $8895!
A huge thank you to you all for such a massive response on Good Friday to the annual appeal for our Catholic ministries in the Holy Lands, which have been hard hit by COVID, and the lack of tourists to the region. Much, much appreciated!

May & June Ministry Rosters are available for your perusal on the following website: https://rosters.org.au . Rosters will be issued every 2nd month, so please watch out for the July & August roster sign up which will be coming out at the end of May. Please notify the Office of any changes, even last minute changes on the weekend by sending a text to 0413 226 508 or email office@rgcp.org.au and we will find a replacement for you. Please do not find your own replacement, except in exceptional circumstances.

Parish Wardens Rosters will from now on be organised by the Parish Office.
To help maintain our vital Wardens Ministry and keep it up and running, due to occasional absences due to COVID and other illnesses, and to ensure Archdiocesan (and NSW Govt) Compliance requirements are being met, I have asked the Parish Office to organise these rosters from now on. An email has been sent to all compliant ministers. If you no longer want to continue with this ministry please contact the office. Names of Wardens will also be placed in the Parish Bulletin on a weekly basis.

All our volunteers must be aware that if the 'Safeguarding Compliance' requirements (WWCC, Salt Training - including a valid Refresher course every three years - and a signed Volunteer Acceptance Form) are not met or kept up-to-date, we won't be able to include you on the Rosters, nor will you be sent a link to access the rosters.

Donation of Toiletries, Hand Knitted beanies and scarves, and canned or packaged groceries for Our Lady's Kitchen Parish Outreach
We have placed baskets at the doors of our Churches over the next two weekends to collect gifts of food, knitted items and toiletries for homeless and disadvantaged people whom our newly formed Parish based "Our Lady's Kitchen" is currently helping. In partnership with the St. Merkorious Charity, and our own St Vinnies at Gladesville, we will be ensuring that all these goods will be distributed to needy people. Please remember them at your next shopping visit and buy a few more on behalf of the poor we collectively support!

Bulletin Sick List.
As you can see, it is getting very long! Could you please let the Parish Office know if anyone you know on the sick list has recovered? That would help us to maintain the list.

And that's about it for now!

Your brother, in the pastoral service of the 'Good Shepherd',

Fr. Greg
