From Fr Greg's Desk
Hi everyone!
Just a few things this week to bring to your attention.
"Man of God"
I saw another very good movie this week called "Man of God" (making the most of my last "Dine and Discover Voucher"!!). It was recommended by the Catholic Weekly. The movie is about the life, trials (and exile) of a modern day saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church, who died in 1920. His name is Saint Nektarios of Aegina, and it follows the immense trials he went through as a Metropolitan Orthodox Bishop who was unjustly slandered, convicted without trial and exiled from his diocese until his death in 1920. I found it very moving and inspiring... Hopefully you will too! It will be showing daily at 10 am at the Events Cinema Macquarie Centre until next Wednesday 15th June, so make the most of the opportunity if you can. There are also other cinemas around Sydney where the movie is being shown, but it isn't likely to be available after next week.
Vinnies Van Progress Report
Huge thank you to all those who have responded so positively to our appeal to get a Local Vinnies Van up and running in our area. So far we have raised about $42,000, so we are almost halfway there. I look forward to the van being 'coloured completely in yellow' over the next few weeks, so that we can make this wonderful outreach project a reality and start delivering this service to needy people in our local areas.
And that's about it for now!
Your brother, in this rather chilly June weather,
Fr. Greg
