From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 28th August

Hi everyone!
Save the Date - Sunday November 6th 2022 - St. Charles Borromeo Feast Day and International Food
After two years of COVID cancellations, this year we will definitely be celebrating the Feast day of St. Charles Borromeo on Sunday 6th November, with our International Food Day afterwards in the grounds of St. Charles Borromeo Primary School.

We are looking for cultural groups (Italian, Lebanese, Philippino, Argentinian, Indonesian etc) to cook their own delicacies for this lovely celebration. Please contact the office for details of how you can give us a hand to make this a very special day. More information to follow.

'Green Finger's SCB Garden Ministry’- Spring Working Bee - Next Sat 3rd September 2022 at 8am to 10.30 am
Just a reminder that next Saturday we will need a small cohort of eager volunteers for a couple of hours from 8 am to about 10.30 am to get our SCB grounds in order! We have mowing, edging, weeding and laying topsoil in places around the grounds. If you wish to start and leave earlier, that is also fine by me! Morning tea will be provided. See you on Saturday morning early!

Father's Day Memorial Mass at Field of Mars Cemetery, Sat 3rd Sep 2022 - 10.30 am
Next Saturday we will be having our traditional Father’s Day Memorial Mass at Field of Mars Cemetery at 10.30 am in the usual place adjacent to the Office. A small marquee and seating will be provided so invite all those you know who used to come along before COVID struck three years ago. In the case of inclement weather the mass will go ahead so please bring an umbrella and or rain coat.

Safe Trip Home, Fr. Ismael Barros
Fr. Ismael, the Superior General of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity to which all four priests of the Parish belong, is heading home on Sunday morning after his short visit. He thanks you all for the warm welcome you gave him during his stay here and is going home very content with the work being done in our parish. Safe trip, Fr. Ismael!

Memorial Mass for Little Noah
We have a 40 day memorial mass at SCB Church this Thursday 1st September at 7:30pm for little Noah Herring, after whom the parish’s resident Coffee Van is named, and whose fighting spirit and quiet resilience has been an inspiration to us all.

You are very welcome to come along and offer your prayers, as we remember his brief but significant time with us, and we likewise offer our condolences to Jess, Dom and Rita, his devoted sister.

Tea and coffee will be available at Noah’s Ark after mass.

At Our Church Doors This Week: Legion of Mary and Catholic Women's League
Our recently formed Legion of Mary will have representatives at our Church doors this week promoting their work and their weekly prayer group. Why don't you check them out!

Catholic Women's League volunteers will also be selling raffle tickets at all our Masses this weekend for their annual fundraiser. Please note the date of their Fashion Parade on 17th September (see insert on page 6 for more details).

Long-term Mass Intentions and Bulletin Inclusion
Requests have been made to have names written into the "Remembrance section" of the Bulletin on a long term basis. Due to this being a rather large Parish, and the limited space available in the Bulletin each week (even with 8 pages!!), we regret that we have to limit the period of time in which a name is printed in the remembrance list to four weeks per annum.

For those of you who would like to have a yearly or perpetual memorial, you might like to contact "Aid to the Church in Need", (www.aidtochurch.org.au) or perhaps the Capuchin Friars (www.capuchinfriars.org.au) for perpetual or yearly remembrances.

And that's about it for now.

Your brother, in Christ's service,

Fr. Greg
