From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 14th August 2022

Hi everyone!
Welcome to Fr. Ismael Barros, fmvd, my 'Verbum Dei' Superior General from Rome
It is with great pleasure that I welcome Fr. Ismael Barros, 'Superior General' of our male branch of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity to which all four priests (Frs. Greg, Daniele, Dan and Steve) belong, back to the Parish for a second visit. It has been several years since he has been here, due to COVID restrictions on travelling, so we are very glad to have him here once again. Fr. Ismael will be joining us for several of the Masses next weekend, He will be leaving us on the 28th August headed for our communities in Spain. Welcome, Fr. Ismael!!

Assumption Mass on Monday 15th August 5 pm at SCB Church
Next Monday is the Feast of the Assumption, and so, as we normally do for any Solemnity or Holy day of Obligation - as this feast is - we will be having a special Mass at 5 pm on Monday 15th August for this purpose. Please make a note of this in your diaries. I look forward to seeing you there and then.

Help Needed for Our First Holy Communion Programmes

This year we hope to be able to host face-to-face group formations for our youngsters and their parents and carers of the First Holy Communion formation programme, to be held in or around the last three weeks of October 2022. For this to happen, we will need something like 20 small group leaders to assist us with the 'break - out' groups, over those two evenings. We especially need people who have some experience in teaching children about the faith and have their Parish compliance up-to date by then. Please help us assist our youngsters so that the formations may be both personable and relevant to them. If you can help, please send an email to sc@rgcp.org.au to let Dominic know of your availability for those sessions. Even if you are only available for one session alone, that would still be a great help.

Noah's Ark Cafe Open Again This Sunday 14th Aug, 2022
As you will all be aware, Noah's Ark Cafe has been temporarily closed as our beautiful little 'Patron' left us all too soon. Dominic Herring will be back on Sunday bright and early as well as Tuesday to Friday next week, and we look forward to seeing his smiling face along with his friendly staff. I am certain that they could do with your patronage in this first year of their service to the Parish, so please check them out sometime soon and try their coffees, snacks and lunches for yourselves! [PS. The hot chips are absolutely delicious!!]

Visitation Ministers Still Needed for Occasional Parish Visitations
Our final point is that our Visitation Programme to bring Holy Communion to the housebound is well and truly 'going', but we need more Ministers to do the occasional visit. As Communion ministers, you are expected to make visitations to parishioners, and now is a great time to start! Please contact the friendly staff at the Parish Office to see how you could be of help.

Happy 95th Birthday Merryl Foster!!
Always a big event, but especially so for our award winning, celebrated 55 year-long catechist, Merryl Foster, who turns a young 95 next Tuesday 16th August. We will be joyfully wishing her a very Happy Birthday next Tuesday, and we understand Merryl will be present at the 9.20 am Mass at SCB Church on Tuesday morning. So come along if you would like to wish her a Happy Birthday in person. It isn't
everyday that one celebrates a 95th Birthday, so we figured it would be nice to make this occasion very special for Merryl!

And that's about it for now.

Your brother in Christ's service, as always,

Fr. Greg!
