From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 16th October 2022
Hi everyone!
Back again!
I haven't written my column over the last few weeks as I decided to reduce the work on the bulletin down to a minimum for the duration of the school holidays. We are back to normal this week, so the ancillary notices of upcoming events have once more been included. The two big events coming up, of course, are our RGCP Feast Day on the 6th of November and the November Mass of Remembrance on the 8th of November.
Parish Feast Day (with International Lunch) - 6th November 2022 at SCB 11.30 am - 2.30 pm.
Things are progressing well with the planning of our RGCP Parish feast day, which this year will be held at SCB (next year at OLQP). The 'menu' is certainly looking very good, although the long range weather forecast isn't that spectacular, with the 'La Nina' weather phenomenon looking to stick around for the next few months. We have a nice line up of national cuisines, but we are still open to parishioners from our Croatian, Lebanese, Indian, Sri Lankan and other communities to get in contact with us to "take a stand"!
Pre-sale of tickets will start this week - $10 per adult, $5 per school aged child. There is free entry for children under school age, and for everyone working on a stall. We need volunteers to help on the day (see the advert on page 3).
Please help us to make this a Big Parish event (especially after this long 'COVID winter')!
Calling all Artists!! Face Painters Needed
One of the talents we could definitely use at the RGCP Feast Day would be a small contingent of 'face painters' to take turns on the day and make it a fun occasion for our younger set. Give me a call at the office or send me an email to pp@rgcp.org.au and let me know if you could help transform our kid's faces into butterflies, cats or whatever takes their fancy??
Mass of Remembrance - 8th November 2022 at 7.30 pm SCB Church
Our annual Parish 'Mass of Remembrance' will take place once again this year on Tuesday 8th Nov. We have a new committee this year, so it is likely to take on a slightly different format. We have invited all those who have said goodbye to loved ones this past year, along with those from recent years as well, as COVID hasn't aided in getting people along to Memorial Services in the recent past.
Please make sure you RSVP to the parish office on 9807 - 2966 or at office@rgcp.org.au or use the 'trybooking' service mentioned on page 3 of the bulletin to make it a more personal event for your loved ones.
Catholic Mission Representatives at all our Masses this Weekend
Representatives of Catholic Mission will be speaking at all Masses this weekend. Catholic Mission is the Catholic Church's aid agency, working internationally on behalf of Pope Francis, and it works in partnership with local Church communities and missionaries all over the world to assist them in proclaiming the Gospel and serve people in all sorts of need. Please help them generously with their work, as our 'sister missionary partner' throughout the world.
Donation envelopes have been placed in each bulletin this week for your convenience, but you can also donate online here: www.catholicmission.org.au/see-our-work-in-action/witness#donate.
Just a Note about Feedback from Parishioners
As your Parish priest, I welcome feedback from you, which helps us to serve you better. However, out of courtesy, please put your name and a contact number or email to any feedback you wish to give, otherwise it would be difficult to know where it is coming from, or if it relates to a parishioner or not, and would likely be disregarded.
And that's all for now!! Your 'Partner in Christ' ...
Fr. Greg!!
