From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 27th November 2022

Hi All!
The Advent Season is Upon Us!
As you can see by the change of colours in our Parish Churches, the Advent season has arrived in which we joyfully and expectantly await for Jesus to come back for us. I am asking the Good Lord for a burst of Advent Inspiration this year, and expect to get it; I hope and trust that so are you!

Still, as the saying goes, "you’ve got to be in it to win it"! For that reason, I encourage all of you to make the most of this time to reignite the flame of your love for God and for others, and take advantage of every possible occasion to actively partake of our Parish Community as much as possible.
There are Advent groups, the School of the Word on Tuesday evenings, and a whole lot more on offer. Also we need more volunteers for so many things this Christmas (see my note below). Together, let's make this Advent and Christmas season together something absolutely unforgettable!

Walkway Awning Coming Soon to SCB!
The much awaited extended awning over the walkway leading from the Parish Centre doors at SCB up to the toilet located on the corner of the School Library building should be here before Christmas. Our thanks to Sydney Catholic Schools for offering to finance the awning, as the area is being used for our School kids waiting for the afternoon pick up each day.

You will notice a number of holes have already been dug to accommodate the footings of the supporting posts into the garden there, and blue markings highlight where the other posts will likely go. The plan is to have it all in place before Christmas Day. Here's hoping nothing intervenes to prevent that from happening!

NSW State Parliament Award for 'Outstanding Service to the Community During COVID'
As was reported in the TWT this week, next Monday night I will be receiving an award for 'Outstanding Service to the Community during COVID'. I am keenly aware, however, that I will be accepting the award on behalf of all of you who have worked so hard to keep our Parish 'up and running' during the COVID lockdowns.

The Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Hon. Mark Coure MP, will be presenting the award at NSW Parliament House. For that reason, I have asked Fr. Steve, Judy Raumer, Peter Watkins and Phil Stewart, the Principals of both St. Charles Borromeo Primary and Holy Cross College - all members of our current Parish Pastoral Council - to accompany me on this occasion.

The award is being given as part of the biennial 'Celebration of Special Religious Education' (SRE), which this year will incorporate a recognition of the important role people of faith played beyond SRE in caring for their communities during COVID.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped during COVID to serve our Parishioners, including our Priests, Office staff, buddies, live streamers, and many others without whom I would not be receiving this award. If you are interested you can watch the award ceremony on their live-streaming from 6pm onwards. You will need, however, to register to watch the Award Ceremony online. RGCP Parish Pastoral Council meeting next Wednesday 30th November
Our Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meets about 8 times a year to discuss pastoral matters of the Parish. Our last meeting for this year will be next Wednesday night. If you have any matters you would like to be considered for the meeting, kindly let me know by writing an email to me at pp@rgco.org.au. The following PPC meeting is set down for early February 2023.

Signing up as RGCP Christmas Volunteers

Thanks for all those who have already signed up to help us out at Christmas. You can sign up to help by either filling in the form located in this week’s Bulletin, by calling the Office on 9807 2966/email office@rgcp.org.au, or signing up via the sheets in clip boards at the entrances to both Churches. We will also contact those who volunteered last year.

And that's about it for now!

Your brother in Christ’s service,

Fr Greg
