From Fr Greg's Desk - Sunday 25th August 2024
Holy Cross College Students RCIA Evening
Last Thursday night 18 of our local Holy Cross College students were either received into the Catholic Church, or completed their Sacraments of Initiation, culminating in the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a truly grace-filled and prayerful event, and one that those students and their godparents and sponsors will cherish always.
Our thanks to Bishop Danny for presiding over the Mass and his beautiful words of encouragement to them. And especially to Christina Breda, the Religious Education Coordinator at the College, who facilitated much of the training and preparation for the night, and Fr. Steve and Br. Antonio who have been instrumental with their chaplaincy work at the College.
Fathers Day l Mass SCB Church 10:30am Sat 31 Aug 2024
We will be holding our regular Memorial Mass for deceased Father's and Grandfather's next Saturday at SCB Church at 10.30 am, with morning tea afterwards outside the Church. This is a lovely way of wishing them a Happy Father's Day, with our fondest memories and most heartfelt condolences.
Fr. Dan, in my absence, will be celebrating the Mass, and we welcome the names of Father's and Grandfather's for our RGCP Father's Day Honour Roll. Those attending on the day may inscribe their names in this special folder located at the SCB Church Doors, and they will be included on the altar as intentions for the Mass.
Oh, and don't forget ... we will be choosing our "Father of the Year" again at each of the Masses next weekend with a complimentary $50 Bunnings Card to boot... so make sure your Parents and Grandparents come along (spoiler alert: only those present will get a ticket!).
OLK Delivery Volunteers Needed.
We need some new volunteers for our deliveries of meals with Our Lady's Kitchen as, sadly, some volunteers can no longer continue the service, and the work is becoming more onerous for the ones who are helping out.
We are currently delivering freshly cooked meals to over 40 households in the Gladesville area, twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday from about 4.30 - 5.30 pm. Would you please give me a hand?? Contact us at OLK@rgcp.org.au or ring the office on 9807 2966
Verbum Dei Missionaries' Six Yearly 'Congress'
As mentioned previously, this Sunday afternoon I will be travelling to Spain for our six yearly 'Congress' and will be physically absent (though not out of reach) for the next five weekends. Please keep our Fraternities' 'Congress' in your prayers, as we meet to elect our new Congregational leaders for the next six years, and discuss our Fraternities' life and trajectory into the near future. These are complex times for religious communities, so fear not, there will be much to occupy me for the next month or so!!
In the meantime, Fr. Dan will be filling in for me for my specific Parish duties, and Judy Raumer, my Executive Assistant will be on hand for anything you may need from me. And you also still have Fr. Daniele, Fr. Steve, and Br. Antonio as usual. I, for my part, will certainly keep you all in my prayers and thoughts until I return on the 5th of October.
So, God bless you all, and a very blessed springtime to you all!
