From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 22nd December, 2024

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to Holy Cross College's 2024 HSC Contingent!
You will be pleased to know that our local Catholic Secondary College across the road, Holy Cross College, has done excellently this year in their HSC results. We congratulate Mr. Philip Stewart, Principal, and the teaching staff at the College, for their leadership and dedication to the boys.

The College came in at 155th in the State, which is a marvellous achievement given that they are not a 'selective school' based on academic performance as are several in the area, and take in all our boys no matter what their academic levels, to educate them into Christian adulthood and the careers that each will take. With their highest ATAR: 98.3, with 22% of students with a 90+ ATAR, 38% with an +85 ATAR, I am told it was the second-best result in 40 years at the College. Well done, Team HCC!

We also congratulate Chris Cagica and Oliver Roumanos of Holy Cross who are regular attendees at our Sunday Masses and were named among the Distinguished Achievers having achieved better than 90% in at least one of their subjects.

We particularly congratulate one of other regular 'Weekly Mass-goers' and a leader from our SPARC youth, Gaby Blaine, who was Dux of OLMC Parramatta this year and achieved an amazing overall 'ATAR' of 98.1. Well done, Gaby!

Thanks to all our 'Cast and Crew' at the Parish

This being my last column for the year, I just wanted to make this huge THANK YOU to everyone who makes our Parish tick. Firstly, to Judy Raumer, my Executive Assistant at the Parish, who goes way beyond the 'line of duty' as her work is officially only part time at the Parish. Judy puts in many 'volunteer hours' in addition to her paid work, which most of you would not know about but that I see and value immensely.

Then there is our other office staff, pastoral assistants, maintenance men and all the individual contractors who regularly visit the Parish to ensure that the buildings and grounds, sound, cameras and lighting, cleanliness and work, health and safety measures are all taken care of. That is a major effort in a Parish like ours... so to all of you who help to keep this Parish running, again, a heartfelt word of thanks!

To Those Spending Christmas Somewhere Else This Year
I want to wish you all a very Happy and Holy Christmas, and a wonderful time together with your family and friends wherever it is that you are going to be. I pray that you all may safely reach your destinations and arrive home again in time for the Scholastic Year to start in 2025.

God bless, and a very Merry Christmas to all of you from this Missionary Brother in Christ's service,

Fr. Greg
