Hi everyone. Fr. Greg here.
His Grace, Archbishop Anthony has written to us tonight about yet another bill which you probably didn't know was being tabled for discussion in NSW Parliament.
The new bill will try to force Catholic hospitals to provide abortions, and force health professionals who object to that, to refer pregnant women who might want an abortion to an abortion provider.
And it is likely to be presented in NSW Parliament for discussion as early as Wednesday 19th March 2025 ... meaning in less than 5 days time...
That's pretty hasty stuff, and pretty nasty stuff as well. I know a lot of Catholc doctors and nurses and other health professionals who will feel that they are being put in a really difficult position if this bill passes.
It shouldn't be left up only to them to have to decide what to do; we need to speak up on their behalf, and on behalf of the children who might be born if the health professional has an opportunity to give a pregnant mother and the farher of the child another alternative to aborting her child.
And so I ask that you read this message from our Archbishop, and that you please think about it, and that you do all that is within your power to help keep our Catholic hospitals as sanctuaries for saving lives, and not as agencies for taking them away.
Archbishop Anthony is offering a practical way to show your support. Please do all you can to help.
God bless you all.
Fr. Greg

| | | Friday, 14 March 2025 Raise your voice for the precious unborn Dear Greg,
New South Wales has some of the most radical abortion laws in the world, with abortion allowed for any reason right up until the day of a child’s birth.
Alarmingly, this is not enough for some, with a bill currently before NSW Parliament that would make our laws even worse.
The new abortion bill will try to force Catholic hospitals to provide abortions, and force doctors who object to refer pregnant women who want an abortion to an abortion provider.
This is an extreme attack on people of faith and on faith-based health care across this state.
We have been told that debate on this bill could begin as early as Wednesday 19 March 2025, and so this is urgent.
It is somewhat providential that debate will begin on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, who was entrusted by God to be the earthly Guardian of the Redeemer, and I encourage you to ask his intercession for the defeat of this bill.
The grave nature of this bill calls us to prayer and action for its defeat. To this end, there are two gatherings occurring next week for the promotion and protection of human life.
The first is on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, at 5pm sharp outside NSW Parliament House.
This rally will be specifically against this bill, with a range of speakers to address the impact of these proposals.

I also invite you to give public witness to the sanctity of human life at this year’s Day of the Unborn Child, which will be held on Sunday, 23 March 2025.
The day will begin with Holy Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral at 10.30am, followed by the Angelus at midday and a prayerful procession to NSW Parliament House and an address by Australia’s newest cardinal, His Eminence, Cardinal Mykola Bychok. We will then return to the Cathedral for Benediction. |
