From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 14th September, 2025

Hi everyone, and welcome to our first week of Spring.

Happy Father's Day!!
It is Father's Day this weekend, so let me take the opportunity first of all to wish all of you Dads and Granddads a truly happy and beautiful weekend, in the company of your families. We thank you particularly for your positive influence on your families and your example of a lived and practiced faith. Let's see who the Holy Spirit has in mind as our 'Father of the Year' at each of the regular weekend Masses!

Retired Priests' Appeal This Weekend
Along with our usual Father's Day things, we also have the annual appeal for financial help for our retired and chronically ill Priests this weekend. Some of them worked here at this parish, others didn't. And because our Priests tend to retire late in life, we sometimes forget about their needs in the frailty of their later years of life. So, how about giving them a hand? There are envelopes out on the pews. You can see on the envelope that there are also other ways to donate, other than putting cash in that envelope and dropping it onto the plate as it comes around (at either collection) - via EFT, or online, or over the phone as well. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

St. Charles Primary School Fete is NEXT SUNDAY 14TH September 11 am - 4 pm
Our BIG fundraiser for the Primary School (and Parish) is on again next weekend. So ... bring along your kids, their grandparents and anyone else you might like to invite. The fun begins after the 10 am Mass (not meaning to say there is little 'fun' at the Mass itself!!) with the official welcome at about 11.15 am with our local dignitaries (and Parish Priest). Food, rides, entertainment and the traditional 'Dignitary Dunking" will be available as usual. See you there after Mass next week.

Feast of the Holy Cross (also next Sunday 14th) Holy Cross College 1 pm
The annual "Festa del Santissimo Crocifisso" which our Italian friends have celebrated for many years will once again be held over at Holy Cross College Ryde. It begins with the Mass at 1 pm, followed by a short procession and BBQ. You are all welcome to participate, and the BBQ is courtesy of the organisers.

That's it for now, folks. Again, a very HAPPY FATHERS' DAY to all of you who fall into that category (including your local Priests!)

Fr. Greg
