From Fr Greg's Desk: Sunday 22nd March, 2026

Hi everyone!
Easter Postcards Ready for Delivery in our Area
With Easter just two weeks away, we once again ask you to use your “daily walk” to help us notify our locals of our Easter services. The last two Census have clearly indicated that, on average, just under a 1000 Catholics move in and out of our Parish boundaries every year. That is why it is important to send out these cards each year, at Easter and Christmas, as a way of reaching out to our resident Catholics to let them know what we have on offer. The bundles are there at the main entrances of both SCB and OLQP Churches. This is a practical way of you ‘getting the word out’; you can deliver them any day you like over the next week or so.

Adult Confirmation Course Begins Thursday 16 April 2026
Every year we offer courses for people who have, for whatever reason, somehow ‘fallen through the cracks’ and have not yet been confirmed, and this year is no exception. The course will be held on Thursday evenings from 7.30 - 9 pm over six weeks beginning 16 April, and is for those who have been baptised in the Catholic Church, but never confirmed. The Confirmation Mass itself will be held in St. Mary’s Cathedral officiated by one of our auxiliary bishops in May. See the information box on the opposite page for more details.

Palms Once Again Needed for Palm Sunday
For those of you who have suitable Palm trees on properties you own for our Palm Sunday celebrations, this item is for you! We once again need lots of palms for us to provide individual palms for everyone attending our Palm Sunday services. Please drop them off at the Parish Office this week until COB Thurs evening, as the Palms need to be cut up next Friday 27 March. We will require volunteers for that task as well.

Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Sunday Rosters are Now Out
We kindly ask that all readers, acolytes and altar servers check the Rosters for your time slot and ensure that you are at the Mass of Holy Week liturgy at least fifteen minutes beforehand. If you have not turned up, we will need to find a replacement and you may lose your spot. The readings will be sent out for Palm Sunday this Monday 23 March and the readings for Easter will the following Monday 30 March.

Non-Perishable Food and Toiletry Drive for St. Merkorious over Easter
As a special ‘Easter Bunny’ gift this Easter, why not bring in some non-perishable food items and toiletries/hygienic care packages for the needy? We will be collecting them over the Easter period. The times are even tougher now, so please remember the poor and needy we are currently supporting with some gifts of your own. You may leave them either at the Church doors in the baskets provided or drop them down to the Parish Office during Office hours.

Thanks for that! God bless you all in the week ahead.

Fr. Greg
